The Oat Sheaf
This trade token, worth a half penny, was issued by a chandler, for their business at the sign of the Oat Sheaf in Creechurch Lane.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 779; Obv inscription: THE.OATE.SHEAF.IN.CREE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sheaf (in field); Rev inscription: CHVRCH.LANE.CHANDLER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.M.B. ½ (triad of initials in Roman capitals, with ½ below, in field).
