The Two Sugar Loaves
Edward Belitha issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at St Katherine's Stairs, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2594; Obv inscription: HIS. DOVBLE. TOKEN. FOR. A. ½. D (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Edward / Belitha / Grocer (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: AT.S.KATHERN.STAIRES (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Two sugar-loaves, below 1669 (in field).

St Katherine's Stairs, formed the access from the River Thames to St Katherine's Wharf, in Stepney Middlesex; the area is lost below St Katherine's Docks, which lies in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
