Pin, hairpin
A jet hairpin, circular in section. Tapered to a point at one end and terminating in a faceted and decorated head.
Jet was a particularly prized material for ornamental jewellery throughout the Roman period. A great deal of this jewellery was produced at Eburacum (modern day York).
