Archaeology — Roman; 70-80
Knife
Iron knife, with bone handle, complete. The blade has parallel edge and back, the back turning down at the tend to form the tip; the plate tang continues the full length of the paired, undecorated, bone handle plates which are secured by three rivets The handle narrows to a waisted terminal similar to those seen on knives of Manning type 1d. The paired bone plates however place this as a variant of type 1b. There is no trace of a suspension loop although the tang projects slightly beyond the end of the handle plates.
