Archaeology — Medieval; 15th century
Lead, lead alloy, ring, finger ring
Pewter finger ring. The hoop is flat-sectioned and decorated on the outside with a chevron pattern. The bezel is in the form of a mitred head. This is possibly a pilgrim souvenir commemorating a visit to Thomas Becket's shrine at Canterbury cathedral in Kent. Becket was often depicted wearing his archbishop's vestments and mitre on badges bought at the shrine.
