The Chequer Board
John Reeve issued this trade token, wortha half penny, for his business at the sign of the Chequer Board, in Uxbridge, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Middlesex number 233; Obv inscription: IOHN. REEVE. AT. THE. CHECKER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A chequer-board (in field); Rev inscription: IN.VOXBREDGE.1669 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY / I.E.R. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
