Elizabeth Joyne issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for her business at the sign of the Anchor, in Maid Lane, Southwark.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Southwark number 301; Obv inscription: ELIZABETH.IOYNE.AT.YE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = An anchor (in field); Rev inscription: IN.MAIDE.LANE.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HER / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
