The George and Dragon
James Bayley issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of George and the Dragon, on Bankside, Southwark.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Southwark number 117; Obv inscription: IAMES.BAILLIE.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = St George and the dragon (in field); Rev inscription: ONE.YE.BANKSIDE.1668 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY / I.E.B. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
