The Salters' Arms
Richard Heather issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Southwark.
Boyne & Williamson (1891) reference Southwark number 49; Obv inscription: RICHARD.HETHER (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The Salters' arms (in field); Rev inscription: IN.SOVTHWARK.1664 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.I.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
The arms of the Worshipful Company of Salters are: Party per chevron Azure and Gules three covered salts Argent garnished Or, the salt shedding on both sides of the salts Argent (J.
