The Peacock Brewhouse
This trade token, worth a half penny, for issued at the Peacock Brewhouse, in Whitecross Streeet.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3440; Obv inscription: AT.THE.PECOCKE.BRVHOVSE (around field, in Romn capitals) Device = A peacock with tail spread (in field); Rev inscription: IN.WHITE.CROSS.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / T.C (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
Whitecross Street lay in the ward of Cripplegate Without, in the City of London, and the Borough of Finsbury, Middlesex; the street is now part of Cripplegate Ward in the City of London, and the London Borough of Islington.
