The Rose
Elizabeth Rose issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for her business in Whitechapel, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3422; Obv inscription: ELIZABETH.ROSE.IN.WHIT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A rose (in field); Rev inscription: CHAPPELL.HER.HALF.PENY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A basket and E.R (initials in Roman capitals on eithr side of sign, in field).
