The Tobacco Roll
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Tobacco Roll, in Wapping, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3340; Obv inscription: AT.THE.TOBACKO.ROLE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device= A roll of tobacco (in field); Rev inscription: IN.WAPPIN.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.I.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
