The Ship Tavern
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Ship Tavern, at Wapping Wall, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3338; Obv inscription: AT.THE.SHIP.TAVERNE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A ship (in field); Rev inscription: AT.WAPING.WALL.1650 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.E.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Wapping Wall runs north-east of Garnet Street, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, it was previously part of Stepney, Middlesex.
