The Wheatsheaf
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued by a mealman (someone who deals in meal crops, such as oats), for his business in New Crane, Wapping, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1992; Obv inscription: AT.THE.NEWCREN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.E.R. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: MEAL.MAN.IN.WAPPING (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A wheatsheaf (in field).
