The Horseshoe
John Holland issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at Green Bank, in Wapping, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3310; Obv inscription: IOHN.HOLLAND.AT.YE.1668 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A horseshoe (in field); Rev inscription: GREENE.BANCK.IN.WAPING (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / I.I.H. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field); octagonal.
