The Coffee House
W. Shaw issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business, a coffee house, in Tower Royal (now College Hil).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3228; Obv inscription: W.SHAW.AT.THE.COFFEE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A hand holding a coffee-pot (in field); Rev inscription: HOVSE.IN.TOORE.ROYAL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = W.E.S. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
