The White Swan
William Peake issued this trade token, worth half penny, for his business at the sign of the White Swan, in Tower Street (now Great Tower Street), City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3218; Obv inscription: WILLIAM.PEAKE.AT.YE.WHIT (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENY / W.M.P. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field); Rev inscription: SWAN.IN.TOWER.STREET.166[8] (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A swan (in field).
