The Crossed Swords
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the side of Tower Ditch, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3184A; Obv inscription: THOMA[...]LI[...] (around field, in Roman capitals); Rev inscription: SIDE. TOWER. DITCH (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Crossed swords (in field).
Tower Ditch, later Little Tower Hill (now Tower Hill), lay in Stepney, Middlesex; the area is now part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
