The Devil and St. Dunstan Tavern

This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Devil and St Dunstan, in Temple Bar within, City of London.

Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3071; Obv inscription: AT.THE.D.AND.DVNSTANS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = St Dunstan pulling the devil's nose with a pair of tongs (in field); Rev inscription: WITHIN. TEMPLE. BARRE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.S.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
