The Gate

James Gover, an apothecary, issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at Temple Bar.

Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 3041; Obv inscription: IAM.GOVER.APOTHECAR (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A five-bar gate (in field); Rev inscription: AT.TEMPLE.BARR.1657 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.K.G. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
