The Fountain
Robert Walley, a brewer, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Fountain, in Spitalfields, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2935; Obv inscription: ROB. WALLEY. BREWER. AT. THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A fountain and R.S.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals around sign, in field); Rev inscription: FOVNTAINE.IN.SPITLE.FEILDS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
