The Still
Richard Ainsworth issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Still (a piece of equipment used in the production of alcoholic spirits), on Snow Hill, ward of Farringon Without, City of London.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2899; Obv inscription: RICH.AYNSWORTH.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A still (in field); Rev inscription: STILL.VPON.SNOW.HILL.1669 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in field, in Roman capitals).
