The Golden Angel
Godrey Foliambe, a confectioner, issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Golden Angel, at Smithfield Bars.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2893. Obv inscription: GODFREY.FOLIAMBE.AT.YE. GOLDEN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = An angel (in field); Rev inscription: AT.SMITHFEILD.BARS.CONFECTIONR (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / 1666 (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
