The Blackamore's Head
Thomas White issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Moor's Head, in West Smithfield.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2884; Obv inscription: THO. WHITE. AT. YE. BLACKMORES (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A man's head and HIS / OB (initials in Roman capitals on either side of sign, in field); Rev inscription: HEAD. IN. WEST. SMITHFEILD (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = T.E.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
