The Salters' Arms

Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2684; Obv inscription: SARAH. EDWARDS. ON. ST. MARY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = The Salters' arms (in field); Rev inscription: HILL.AGAINST.BILINGSGATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HER / HALF / PENY / 1669 (in four lines of Ro man capitals, in field); octagonal.
The arms of the Worshipful Company of Salters are: Party per chevron Azure and Gules three covered salts Argent garnished Or, the salt shedding on both sides of the salts Argent (J. Bromley, The Armorial Bearings of the Guilds of London: a record of the heraldry of the surviving companies with historical notes; with...[illustrations] by Heather Child...(London, 1960). St Mary at Hill lies in Billingsgate Ward, in the City of London.
