The Ship
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Ship, in Clement's Lane.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2462; Obv inscription: AT.THE.SHIP (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A ship (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CLEMENTS.LANE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = M.A.K. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
See also, NN18508, in the museum collection. The location of issue for this trade token, is uncertain; it may be Clement's Lane, in Westminster, Middlesex (now City of Westminster), or Clement's Lane (now St Clement's Lane), in Candlewick Ward, City of London.
