The Queen's Head
Thomas Holloway issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Queen's Head, in Red Cross Street (area north of Fore Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2385; Obv inscription: THOMAS.HOLLOWAY.AT.YE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A crowned bust of Elizabeth I? [Boyne has James I] (in field); Rev inscription: IN.RED.CROS.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / 1666 (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
