Edmond Holt issued this trade token, worth a farthing, at the sign of the Ship, in Ratcliffe, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2349; Obv inscription: EDMOND.HOLT.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A ship (in field); Rev inscription: SHIP.IN.RATCLIFE.1668 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / E.H (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
Ratcliffe is a disctrict in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, having formerly been part of Middlesex.
