The Ship
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Ship, in Sharp's Alley, Leadenhall Street.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2771; Obv inscription: AT.THE.SHIP.IN.SHARPS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A ship (in field); Rev inscription: ALLY.IN.LEADEN.HALL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = F.G.R. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Sharp's Alley, also known as Shaft's Alley, and Later becoming Shaft Court, lay off Leadenhall Street, in Lime Ward, in the CIty of London.
