The Three Morris Dancers
John Lisle issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Three Morris Dancers, in Old Change (now New Change).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2133; Obv inscription: IOHN.LISLE.AT.THE.3 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three Morris dancers (in field); Rev inscription: IN.THE.OLD.CHAINGE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / I.A.L. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
John Lisle also issued a farthing token, see, NN18008 and A9474, in the museum collection. Old Change (now New Change) lay in the wards of Farringdon Within, Bread Ward and Castle Baynard Ward, in the City of London.
