This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business in New Street (now Little New Street and New Street Square).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 2065; Obv inscription: IN.THE.NEW.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A lion rampant (in field); Rev inscription: NEERE.SHOOWE.LANE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = W.E.M. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
New Street (now Little New Street and New Street Square), lies off Shoe Lane, in the ward of Farringdon Without, in the City of London.
