The White Swan
John Baker issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the White Swan in Moorgate without (Moorgate).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1965; Obv inscription: IOHN.BAKER.AT.YE.WHITE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A swan (in field); Rev inscription: SWAN.WITHOVT.MOREGATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / 1667 (in four lines of Roman capitals, in field).
