The Sun
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued by a mealman (someone who deals in meal crops, such as oats), for their business in Little Minories.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1920; Obv inscription: IN.YE.LITLE.MINORYS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.E.E. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: MEALEMAN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A sun (in field).
Little Minories (later Church Street, Minories), lay in Stepney, Middlesex. The area is now part of Portsoken Ward, in the City of London.
