The Ship
Joseph Almond issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Ship, in Mile End, Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1889; Obv inscription: IOSEPH.ALMOND.AT.YE.SHIP (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A ship in full sail (in field); Rev inscription: IN.MILE.END.1668 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / I.I.A. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
