Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1846; Obv inscription: RICHARD.HAWKINS.AT.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three tuns (in field); Rev inscription: TAVERNE.ON.LVDGATE.HILL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.H conjoined (in field, in Roman capitals).
Ludgate Hill lies in Castle Baynard Ward, and the ward of Farringdon Within, in the City of London.
