The St. John's Head Tavern
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the St John Head tavern, in Ludgate (now Ludgate Hill).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1845; Obv inscription: AT.THE.S.IOHNS.HEAD (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = John the Baptist's head on a dish (in field); Rev inscription: TAVERN.WITHIN.LVDGATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.E.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
