The Shears
Thomas Lee issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business on London Wall.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1770; Obv inscription: THO.LEE.AT.LONDON.WALL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A pair of shears (in field); Rev inscription: NEARE.THE.POSTERNE.GATE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY / T.M.L. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
