The Bell
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued for a business at the sign of the Bell, on Little Tower Hill (now Tower Hill), Middlesex.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1745; Obv inscription: AT.THE.BEL.ON.1656 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A bell (in field); Rev inscription: LITLE.TOWER.HILL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.D (in field, in Roman capitals).
Little Tower Hill, lay in Stepney, Middlesex; it is now part of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
