The Red Lion
John Scott issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the sign of the Red Lion, in Leadenhall Street.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1685; Obv inscription: IOHN.SCOTT.AT.THE.RED (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A lion rampant (in field); Rev inscription: IN.LEADEN.HALL.STRET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
