Leonard Peade issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in St Lawrence Lane (now Lawrence Lane).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1639; Obv inscription: LEONARD.PEADE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A stag couchant (in field); Rev incription: IN.ST.LAVRANCE.LANE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = L.P (in field, in Roman capitals).
The issuer is Leonard Pead of St Lawrence Jewry, Cook, d. 1663, see Percival Boyd, [Inhabitants of London]. Society of Genealogists, MS. 26364.
