The White Hart
John Mason issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business at the sign of the White Hart, in St Lawrence Lane (now Lawrence Lane).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1638; Obv inscription: IOHN.MASON.AT.WHITE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A hart lodged (in field); Rev inscription: IN.ST.LAVRENC.LANE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.M.M. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Lawrence Lane runs north off Trump Street, towards Gresham Street and south towards Cheapside, in Cheap Ward, in the City of London.
