The Three Crowns
This trade token, worth a farthing, was issued at the Three Crowns tavern, in Ivy Lane.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1559; Obv inscription: AT.THE.3.CROVNS (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = Three crowns (in field); Rev inscription: IN.IVEY.LANE.1652 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = H.E.W. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
Ivy Row ran north from Paternoster Row, towards Aldgate street, lying within the ward of Farringdon Within, in the City of London. It now lies in Bread Street Ward.
