The Raven
Robert Raven issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Huggin Lane (area to the west of Wood Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1533; Obv inscription: ROBERT.RAVEN.IN.HVGGIN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A raven (in field); Rev inscription: LANE.HIS.HALFE.PENY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = R.K.R. (triad of initials in Roman capitals, in field).
See also, NN17712, in the museum collection. Huggin Lane, which lay to the west of Wood Street, was in the ward of Cripplegate Within, the area now lies in Cheap Ward, in the City of London.
