Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1285; Obv inscription: WILLIAM.HATTON (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: IN.GRVB.STREETE.1666 (around field, in roman capitals) Device = A wheatsheaf and W.M.H. (triad of initials in Roman capitals around sheaf, in field).
Grub Street (now Milton Street), lay in the ward of Farringdon Without, in the City of London and the district of Finsbury, Middlesex. Milton Street now lies within Coleman Street Ward, in the City of London.
