The Lion
Thomas Tisbery, an oilman (a person who sells oil), issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business in Fleet Street.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 1100. Obv inscription: THOMAS.TISBERY.OYL (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A lion rampant (in field); Rev inscription: MAN.IN.FLEET.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A monogram (in field).
