The Ram's Head
James Rudge issued this trade token, worth a farthing, for his business, the Ram's Head tavern in Fenchurch Street.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 995; Obv inscription: IAMES.RVDGE.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A ram's head (in field); Rev inscription: FANCHVRCH.STREET (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = I.C.R. (triad of initials, in Roman capitals).
The issuer was James Rudge of St Benet Gracechurch, Innholder; md. Christian Sharp 1636, see Percival Boyd, [Inhabitants of London]. Society of Genealogists, MS. 27760.
