The Globe Coffee House
This trade token, worth a half penny, was issued at the Globe Coffee House, on the back side of the Royal Exchange.
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 969; Obv inscription: AT.THE.GLOBE.COFFE.HOVSE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A globe and stand (in field); Rev inscription: ON.THE.BACK.SIDE.OF.THE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = ROYALL / EXCHENG / ½ (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
The Exchange (Royal Exchange), lay off Cornhill, in Broad Street Ward and Cornhill Ward, in the City of London.
