Arthur Stanley issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business in Exchange Alley (now Change Alley).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 962; Obv inscription: AVRTHOR.STANLEY (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field); Rev inscription: IN.EXCHAINGE.ALLEY.1666 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A view of the Royal Exchange (in field).
