The Rose Tavern
This trade token, worth a half penny, was issued at the Rose tavern in Cursitor's Alley (now Cursitor Street).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 820; Obv inscription: AT.THE.ROSE.TAVERN.IN (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A rose (in field); Rev inscription: CVSSITERS.ALLEY.1667 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALFE / PENNY / I.E.S. (in four lines of Roman capitals with triad of initials as bottom, in field).
Cursitor's Alley lies within the London borough of Camden, the City of Westminster and the ward of Farringdon Without, in the City of London.
