The Swan
Thomas Ogden issued this trade token, worth a half penny, for his business at the Swan tavern in Crooked Lane (now part of King William Street, and approaches).
Boyne & Williamson (1889) reference London number 802; Obv inscription: THOMAS.OGDEN.AT.YE (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = A swan (in field); Rev inscription: IN.CROOKED.LANE.1664 (around field, in Roman capitals) Device = HIS / HALF / PENY (in three lines of Roman capitals, in field).
